Steel Shed Construction.
Different manufacturers have various designs of steel sheds and storage. The construction of the steel sheds is generally a high strength galvanized steel frame with fixings supplied for a concrete base. Some come with flooring options and steel floor bases as an optional extra. The upright walls are pre-assembled panels from extruded steel sheets with a upvc colour coated exterior or multi coat painted face. Most don’t have windows as standard but they can be supplied with your steel shed as an extra item on some models. Smaller models of steel storage sheds come with a hinged front or top opening door. Stand up steel sheds can have a single opening door either sliding or hinged with larger sheds or steel garage buildings having double hinged doors for easy access.
Steel Shed Installation.
Metal steel sheds are generally sold in kit form to be pre assembled on site. The metal shed kits come pre packed with all the required brackets, nuts and screws needed to assemble the steel shed. Before installing the steel shed, the ground where the shed is to be placed should firm and level and preferably made of concrete to give the shed a good base. Some metal sheds have an option to be supplied with a metal foundation kit or ground anchor kit to suit the type of metal shed supplied. The steel sheds need to be fitted on to a suitable sub-structure to prevent the shed from moving or lifting particularly in high winds. As with most kits it is best to set out all the parts of the steel shed to make sure you have everything required before proceeding with the installation.
Large Steel Outdoor Buildings.
Some manufacturers can supply and install larger steel framed and steel clad outdoor buildings for a variety of uses. They will design, build and erect the steel buildings to the customer’s specification. These steel buildings can be mono pitch lean-to structures or a portal framed structure with a standard dual pitched roof. Most large steel buildings are manufactured from galvanized cold rolled steel sections which are bolted together. Purlins and associated steel extrusions are bolted to the framework to provide a fixing for the colour coated steel external sheets or panels. The type of external sheeting required will depend on the use of the steel building and the people that are using it. As an example a sports hall building will require more insulation than a stable building used for horses.
